MOUNTAINS

The Rocky Mountains started forming around 75 million years ago and now have 58 peaks that stand over 14,000 feet in elevation. The process of forming these huge mountains included erupting volcanos, repeated frozen periods, and massive flooding all of which left what we see today. Gigantic, exposed rock peaks crumbling down into the vast valleys below. Descending we see plant life start around 11,500 ft, as does the vast majority of animal life.
